OK, I tried Lynn Kurland’s Star of the Morning.

They say this author consistently spins great stories. I just happened to pick one with magic swords and what-not.

Not my favorite genre.

Ten pages in, not even this highly-praised storyteller could sell me on magic swords or legendary kingdoms or something called the Black Mage running loose in the land .

But if I could find a Lynn Kurland book where chosen ones don’t gallop off to save the kingdom, or where quiet maidens don’t swoon in the arms of GQ models (fantasy novel indeed!), I might give her another try.

Has anyone else enjoyed a Lynn Kurland book? How about her time-travel tale A Dance Through Time? Should I give that one a try?

Marshmallow Crunch Brownies

Naturally, I would drown my reading disappointment in something sweet. Today’s recipe comes from a round-up article of the world’s best brownies. Evidently we are bored with ordinary brownies these days. Anyway, I snapped up quite a collection of these embellished brownie recipes and I vow to try them all.\

Though I hope each one doesn’t find itself paired with a dud book.

I substituted Cocoa Krispies for the “crispy rice cereal.”

Everybody around the table said the brownie topper reminded them of scotcheroos.
