Meet my friend, John Graham, an Indianapolis cartoonist profile Pic.2 (3)who is the mastermind behind a winning little children’s book, “No Sweets for Santa.”

You see, Mrs. Santa notices that her man’s getting a little tight in the pants. She advises him to skip the cookies this year.

It’s just that it’s hard to go round and round the world fueled only on rabbit food.

How will Santa make it through?

This children’s book is more than a story; it’s a complete family activity. Graham includes a family recipe for something to feed our favorite jolly man, plus a song to sing around the piano while things bake.

If I told you outright what Santa’s treat is, I might spoil the story. So here are just a few fun facts:

1 in 8 of us eat this every day

Americans eat about 100 acres of this annually

— Eating it once a week can reduce the risk of esophageal cancer.

That’s more than enough encouragement to get me started!

I trust you have a favorite youngster in your life to whom you can read Graham’s book. (I love it even better when the youngster can read it to me.) Also, I don’t think you’ll have any trouble getting the kids  to help you make Santa’s Christmas Eve goody. More than likely, your problem’s going to be saving some for the big guy.IMG_0808 (3)

I’m telling you all this now so that you have time to order “No Sweets For Santa” and perhaps practice your cooking skills before the big night. In fact, I’m decreeing it as your recipe for the week.
