Minutes from now, I’ll be in the kitchen, finishing up what’s left of this Jiffy Jambalaya. Let me just say that I’ll be sad to see it go. But it’s a quick dish to make, so I could rustle up more with hardly any trouble.

It will require a green pepper, which reminds me: who’s having trouble opening the plastic produce bags in the store?  Here’s what has worked for me:

  1. If they’ve recently misted the produce and there’s a drop of water on a surface (not on anybody’s future produce)
  2. Finger cots. They’re weird. I ordered them for something else, but they work for this.
  3. A rubber band.
  4. In a pinch, a pencil eraser, although that was hard work and I looked even sillier than wearing finger cots.
