Bananas come to my house to die.

I have good intentions. I know the potassium is good for lots of things. Still, I turn around one day and there they are, brown, squishy and dying.

I know, I know, make banana bread. Except I don’t particularly like banana bread, not enough to use up that many bananas.

Banana bread brownies, however, just might catch on at our house. We had a crowd here this weekend. What a perfect time to try three separate recipes and vote for our favorite.

Here is recipe #1. It’s on the right in the photo.

Recipe #2 is in the middle. The author suggests serving them with maple whipped cream. My crowd said, “No thanks, don’t bother.”

Recipe #3 is on the left. We skipped the bananas on top.

Can you guess which one got the most votes?

I expected to like #1 best. See the big chocolate chips sticking out of the photo in that link? But #2 turned out to be the crowd favorite. It packs a ton of chocolate. Ironically, people said it tasted the least like banana. And that’s fine. Banana flavor is not the objective here. We only want to get rid of the bananas without guilt.

If we have to give ourselves a chocolate jolt in the process, so much the better.
